Proverbs 16-18

“Therefore everyone who hears these words of mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock.” Matthew 7:24

I was reminded last night that Solomon asked for 1 thing = Wisdom (1 Kings 3).  What would you have asked for? I am going to be real:  I would ask for a self-cleaning house, a chef, an unlimited ATM card, or for my children to live long happy lives.  BUT God wants us to live life abundantly!  You are at a crossroads…choose 1:

  • Read or listen to today’s reading, check it off your list, go about your day
  • Pray, think about what you are reading….this is the WISDOM.  Read them, take some notes so that you can APPLY them.  The scripture says it will straighten your path!!

Each year I do a read-through,  I read in a new Bible so that I am not distracted by what God might have said to me previously.  After I read today, it was fun to take out old Bibles to see what I underlined.  Some are similar (too good not to underline them) BUT some were very different.  It was also a great time of reflection to see if I am actually applying God’s word or just underlinining.

  1. You almost got me. I’ve been a way with some things happening. I knew we were in proverbs but the hearing said psalms (:

    1. Thank you! I fixed it! I was all over the place this morning reading today. It was just so good! I am shocked we didn’t have more comments!

–Commit to the Lord whatever you do,
and he will establish your plans.

–In their hearts humans plan their course,
but the Lord establishes their steps.

I am in the process of applying for a fellowship and these are the verses I have been praying.

And of course, since I let my hair go natural (gray) I LOVE

      –Gray hair is a crown of splendor;
it is attained in the way of righteousness.

    1. This is the best I could find on it

“ In this verse, on the other hand, the author is referring to someone who offers a bribe to others. To have ‘a magic stone in the eyes’ is to be subject to an illusion – what this person sees wherever he turns is not reality but only the jewel: his own prosperity. If he can use his wealth or influence to get his own way around the rules, then it’s likely he believes this will ensure his prosperity in everything else. Not only is he blind to all the real experiences of life, but he fails to see that wealth, power and influence are only the appearance of prosperity – they don’t bring peace of mind or genuine happiness, particularly if you have to cheat to gain it.”

The way I see it is it’s talking about the person giving a bribe, they believe it’s a power they possess, and they believe they will prosper no matter what they do with it. Still not entirely sure though

      1. Sorry!! Adding to it^^

I’m seeing it as a bribe to its owner is powerful in their eyes and they believe bribery will help them prosper wherever they go. That it’s some type of blindness in bribery
